The charitable Bertelsmann Stiftung, founded by Reinhard Mohn in 1977, works on an operational level. Its goal is to promote social change. Bründl Sports Gruppe, based in Kaprun, Austria, operates 30 sport & lifestyle shops in 10 top tourist destinations in Western Austria. The family business, founded in 1956, employs 550 people and stands for premium adventure sports shops with exceptional culture, architecture and consulting competence. Furthermore, the Bründl Sports Group is regarded as the largest rental company of winter sports equipment in the Alps - in an absolute top location directly at the cable car stations. A Cubeware solution for integrated retail planning supports the targeted management of the successful company.
Bründl Sports Gruppe grows and continuously opens new branches. The existing Excel reporting system was therefore no longer sufficient. Above all, a professional planning tool was needed for the assortment planning of the shops. In order to be able to map the company's specific processes, the responsible controlling department decided to set up an individual planning application using Cubeware's BI software. The aim was to implement an integrated platform for strategic and operative planning, with a special focus on purchasing and store planning. Essener Verkehrs-AG (EVAG) moves 300,000 passengers daily, making it one of the largest providers of local transportation in the western Ruhr region. True to the motto "Wir bewegen Essen" (We get Essen moving), around 1,800 employees ensure that passengers have access to friendly, cost-efficient mobility. EVAG manages their operational business processes with SAP R/3. However, the transaction-oriented platform is not adequate for handling the analytical controlling tasks. An OLAP solution that was originally used, a combination of the TM1 database and Microsoft Excel, was no longer able to handle the increasing demands of reporting. As a result, the existing solution was to be replaced with a controlling platform that is also capable e.g. of handling growing data volumes and presenting qualitative information.

In 2008, PHOENIX Dichtungstechnik was split off of the Continental Group as the result of a management buy-out.
